The Rosewhite 12 Hour: Saturday November 10th

Yup, it’s that time of year again! Better bust out the cable ties, because the season of raceplate attaching is well upon us and boy do we have some choices to make for the ’12/13 race season. Despite a name change, the Rosewhite 12 hour (formerly the Gravity 12 hour) is back again for 2012 and is surely the well established jewel in the crown of Victorian endurance racing. If you’ve just read this and done the “Oh S**T, I knew I had to remember something last week!!”, then skip ahead, do not collect $200 and fill in your registration form on Entry Zone here.

Scheduled for the 10th of November, the Rosewhite 12 hour takes place in the beautiful Alpine countryside of North East Victoria, only a short drive from local holiday towns Myrtleford and Bright. If you know the area, you’ll have a good idea of the glorious singletrack and terrain that awaits you. If you don’t, you owe it to yourself to check out the Rosewhite 12 hour and spend a couple of nights camping under the stars in one of the most beautiful locations our country has to offer.

As with most years gone, the course for this years event will take most riders around an hour to complete with a 13km loop forming each lap. You can enter the event as a (loopy) Solo rider or in a team with up to 6 mates depending on the fun-to-pain ratio you desire. The race runs from 9am till 9pm, so you can bust out the night lights if you’re keen to score a lap towards the end of the day.

And from the horses mouth:

“The PUSHYS ROSEWHITE 12 HOUR event is an off road challenge or endurance mountain bike race which can be entered solo or in a team of 2,3,4 or 6 people (same or mixed sex). The PUSHYS ROSEWHITE 12 HOUR event is a race in which the competitor/s with the most laps after 12 hours of racing wins. The competition is not only against the other teams and individuals but against the terrain, the clock and yourself. It’s more than just an event though, it’s a total mountain bike festival experience with the emphasis on having fun – there’s onsite bush camping, great food available, a massage tent, entertainment and licensed bar. Product prizes for solo riders and teams and crazy random spot prizes will be awarded”.

Having experienced everything the Rosewhite 12 hour had to offer 2 years ago, we’re gunning to get back and relive the memories of challenging singletrack, stunning views and the relaxed racing vibes. For best results, we recommend camping overnight on the Friday and Saturday so that you can maximise relaxation after the race – this is particularly useful for those city folks who are used to the hustle and bustle of peak hour commuting in the concrete jungle.
